What F30 means
Current Frigidaire electric ranges and cooktops, such as the FFEF3054TS and FGEF3036TF, and freestanding ranges built since about 2004, show F30 when the control sees an open probe connection. That means the oven temperature sensor, an RTD, or its wiring is not completing the circuit. On the ES 510 control the code can show as F30 ERR at power-up and stop you from setting the clock. The oven may not heat, or it may shut off a bake.
Common causes of F30
- The oven temperature sensor probe
- The wiring and connector from the probe to the control
- The control reading the sensor
1. Let the oven cool, then turn it off. 2. Unplug the range or switch off its breaker for up to 30 seconds, then restore power. 3. See whether F30 comes back before you start a bake. 4. Do not pull the sensor or reach into the oven wiring.
- The code says the circuit is open, not which part is open, so we test the probe and the wiring separately.
- We measure the sensor and the connection at the control with power off.
- A written price comes first, and a probe is often a smaller repair than a control.
Other Range codes
Does F30 mean the sensor is bad?
It means the control cannot see the sensor circuit. The probe is the most common reason, but a loose connector can do the same. We test both before we replace anything.
Why can I not set the clock?
On the ES 510 control, F30 ERR at power-up blocks clock programming. Once the sensor circuit is sound again, the clock can be set normally, so it is a side effect and not a separate problem.
Is an older range with F30 worth repairing?
Usually, because the probe is a modest repair. We give you a written price and tell you plainly if a bigger repair does not make sense for the range.
Still seeing F30?
A technician diagnoses it on site and gives you the price in writing before any work starts.
