What Sb (showroom) means
Frigidaire ranges with an ESEC-UIB electronic oven control can be switched into showroom mode, and the display then reads Sb. Showroom mode is the setting used on a sales floor so the control can be demonstrated without running the oven. It is a setting, not a broken part. If the oven will not heat and the display shows Sb, the control is most likely sitting in that mode. The oven side stays cold until the mode is turned off, so a range that looks fine but never heats is the usual thing owners notice.
Common causes of Sb (showroom)
- Showroom mode still switched on in the oven control
- The mode returning after power is removed and restored
- A control that will not leave the mode even when the right steps are followed
1. Turn the oven off and make sure nothing is cooking. 2. Remove power from the range at the breaker, or unplug it, then restore power. 3. Within 60 seconds of power returning, press the Oven Light key and the top oven Timer key together. 4. Check that the display clears and the oven heats normally.
- If the Sb stays on after these steps, we do not know yet whether the keys, the control or the stored setting is the cause.
- We check the key response and the control behavior after a power cycle, then give you a written price before any part is replaced.
- The price is written down and agreed before we touch anything, and the work is backed for 30 days.
Other Range codes
Does Sb mean my range is broken?
No. Sb means showroom mode is on, which is a setting. The range usually works again once the mode is turned off. If it will not leave the mode, we check the control and tell you what we find before any work starts.
Why did my range go into showroom mode?
We cannot say from the code alone. Someone may have pressed the keys in a certain order, or the control may have changed modes around a power interruption. The steps to turn it off are the same either way.
Do you repair older Frigidaire ranges?
Yes, plenty of older ranges are still cooking in Houston kitchens. If a repair would cost more than it is worth, we say so before you spend anything.
Still unsure about Sb (showroom)?
A technician diagnoses it on site and gives you the price in writing before any work starts.
