The infinite switch that controls the element has probably failed and is passing full power. Turn it off at the breaker if it will not shut off. We replace the switch and test the element.

What is the 3,000W element on this range?
It is the higher-power element listed for this model, meant for fast heating. If it heats slowly, we test its connection and switch, since a weak element or burned terminal reduces output.
