FCRE305LA
Frigidaire FCRE305LA Quick-Boil Range Repair
Most common issues on this model
- Quick Boil Element heat-up speed
- SpaceWise expandable element working in both sizes
- Stainless finish and control knobs
- Oven bake and broil elements
The FCRE305LA is a 30 in electric range with a Quick Boil Element, SpaceWise Expandable Elements and an EasyCare Stainless Steel finish. It is also sold as FCRE305LAF. The listing shows it as discontinued, which tells us it is an older range, but those elements are often the reason people kept it.
An expandable element has an inner and an outer section, and each section has its own heat path. If a pot will not heat on the large ring but heats on the small one, we test the outer section and the switch that feeds it. The Quick Boil Element is the higher-power one, so if it takes longer than it used to, we check its connection and the switch.
We also look at the oven elements, the knobs and the stainless face, which can have loose trim around the controls. When a repair is too costly for a range of this age, we say it directly. The label tells us the model and serial before we order parts, the price is in writing, and we guarantee our labor for 30 days.

Error codes this model can show
The outer ring on my expandable element does not heat. What is wrong?
The outer section has its own connection and switch path. We test the section, the switch and the terminal for burn marks. Often one part has failed while the inner ring still works.
Why does my Quick Boil Element take longer than before?
A worn element, a burned terminal or a switch that no longer delivers full power can slow it down. We measure the element and test the connections before suggesting replacement.
Is the stainless finish a concern when repairing the range?
No. We protect the finish while we work. We only mention the finish if trim near the knobs is loose, because that can affect how the controls sit.
