What EB3 means

EB3 is the opposite of EB2: it means the incoming line voltage is below 90 volts AC. The code applies to Frigidaire front-load washers with the horizontal-axis electronic control, including the 3.0 cu ft Frigidaire and Gallery washers and the Affinity 6000 and 7000. A washer cannot run its motor properly on weak power, so the control stops the cycle. Owners often see it when the lights dim, on a long extension cord or on a heavily loaded circuit. The first check is the voltage at the outlet.

Common causes of EB3

  • Weak voltage at the outlet
  • Extension cord or worn outlet
  • Heavily loaded circuit shared with other appliances
  • Control board reading the supply wrongly
✓ One safe check you can try

1. Plug the washer directly into a wall outlet without an extension cord. 2. Turn off other large appliances on the same circuit and try again. 3. Have the voltage at the outlet checked. 4. If the outlet is normal and EB3 returns, call us.

! Why to stop there
  • Low voltage can come from the home's wiring, the outlet or the washer's own reading.
  • We check the outlet voltage first, then the washer, and tell you what we find before a price is agreed.
  • If the wiring in the home needs work, we tell you that rather than replace washer parts.
Opening a panel yourself does not automatically cancel a manufacturer warranty, but it can cause accidental damage, and some manufacturers set their own service conditions. Check your warranty terms, or ask us, before deciding.

Is EB3 the same as a tripped breaker?

No. A tripped breaker removes power completely. EB3 means power is present but too weak. A breaker that has tripped cuts power completely, whereas EB3 means some power is present but too weak.

Can I keep using the washer?

We would not run it until the outlet is checked. Weak power is hard on the motor. Weak power is hard on the motor, so we suggest waiting until the outlet has been checked.
