What EBF means
EBF is the last of the console control codes on Frigidaire Affinity 6000 and 7000 front-load washers. It applies to the 2006 washers and the 3.5 cu ft washers of about 2009 to 2012, not to the earlier 3.0 cu ft design. When EBF appears, the control has found a problem in the panel circuit. The washer may stop the cycle, ignore the keys or hold the code on the display. These washers are older, and we still see them in many Houston homes.
Common causes of EBF
- Console board or processor
- Connector between the console and the main control
- Selector or key contacts
1. Turn the washer off and wait a moment. 2. Turn it on and try a basic cycle. 3. Check that the panel is dry and clean. 4. If EBF returns, do not keep trying. Tell us at what point in the cycle it appeared when you call.
- EBF names the panel circuit, not a part, so we have to test it to know more.
- We check the connector, then the console, then the main board. You get the price in writing before any repair begins.
- If the washer is old enough that a repair makes no sense, we will tell you so.
Other Washer codes
Are EBE and EBF a pair?
They belong to the same console group. The difference is not explained in the owner materials, so we test the panel for both. The owner materials do not explain what separates the two, so we test the panel circuit for both.
Do I need to replace the whole panel?
Not always. A loose connector or a single circuit can be the cause. We confirm before ordering anything. A loose connector or a single bad circuit can be the cause, so we confirm what is wrong before ordering anything.
Are parts available for older Affinity washers?
Often, yes, but it depends on the model. We confirm the part and the price in writing first. We give you the price in writing first, and we say plainly if the washer is better replaced.
Still seeing EBF?
A technician diagnoses it on site and gives you the price in writing before any work starts.
