What E82 means
E82 is one of several console control codes on Frigidaire Affinity 6000 and 7000 front-load washers, both the 2006 generation and the 3.5 cu ft washers of about 2009 to 2012. The console is the control panel with the knob, buttons and display, and E82 says the control found a problem with it. It is not listed on the earlier 3.0 cu ft washers. Owners may see keys that do not respond, a cycle that will not start or a display that locks on E82. The code points to the panel circuit, not to a single named part.
Common causes of E82
- Console control board reading wrong
- Connector between the console and the main control
- Key pad or selector on the console
1. Turn the washer off and wait for the display to clear before turning it back on. 2. Press the Power key once and try a short cycle. 3. Make sure the panel is dry and has no spilled detergent on it. 4. If E82 returns, stop using the washer and call us.
- The code says the console circuit has a problem, but not whether the board, the keys or the connection is responsible.
- We check the console connections and the board response, then give you a written price before replacing a panel.
- Older Affinity panels can be costly, so we say plainly if it is worth the repair.
Other Washer codes
What is a console control problem?
It means the washer control found something wrong in the control panel circuit. E82 is one of several codes that report it, and we test the panel to find which part is involved.
Could spilled detergent cause E82?
Moisture or detergent on the panel can interfere with the keys. Wipe it dry and try again. If E82 returns, the panel needs a closer look.
Is it worth replacing the console on an older washer?
Sometimes yes, sometimes no. We give you a written price and tell you honestly if the cost does not make sense. We give you a written price and tell you plainly if the washer is too old for a new panel to make sense.
Still seeing E82?
