What E58 means
E58 on a Frigidaire front-load washer means high current was detected on one phase of the drum motor. It appears on the horizontal-axis electronic control used in the 3.0 cu ft Frigidaire and Gallery washers and the Affinity 6000 and 7000 models. The motor is a three-phase design, and the control watches the current on each leg. When one leg runs high, it stops the motor at once. Owners see the cycle end suddenly and E58 on the display. We service these older washers, which remain in many Houston laundry rooms.
Common causes of E58
- Motor winding or connection on one phase
- Wiring harness between the control and the motor
- Drive output stage on the control board
- Drum drag raising the motor load
1. Turn the washer off and take the clothes out. 2. Rotate the drum by hand to be sure it turns without grinding or catching. 3. Check that nothing is trapped between the drum and the tub. 4. If E58 returns on a fresh start, stop using the washer.
- A single-phase current problem could be the motor, the harness or the drive board, and the code does not tell us which.
- We check the motor and its connections first, then the drive output, and give you a written price before any repair.
- If an older washer is not worth the repair, we say so honestly.

What does a motor phase mean?
The drum motor is powered through three separate windings, called phases. E58 says the control saw too much current on one of them, and it shut the motor off.
Is this the same as E56?
They are related but not identical. E56 is high motor current overall, while E58 points to one phase. Both need the motor and drive checked.
How long does an older washer repair take?
Many are finished in one visit when the part is on the truck. We confirm the price in writing before starting, and the work carries a 30-day warranty.
Still seeing E58?
A technician diagnoses it on site and gives you the price in writing before any work starts.
