What i20 means
On Frigidaire dishwashers with a digital status window from the i-code generation, roughly 2010 and later, i20 means the dishwasher did not drain completely. Models such as FGID2466QF, FGHD2465NF and FFBD2411NS use this display. Water may be left in the bottom of the tub after the cycle. The usual causes are a clogged filter, a pinched or blocked drain hose or a disposer knockout plug that was never removed.
Common causes of i20
- A disposer knockout plug that was not removed
- A kinked or pinched drain hose
- A drain hose that is too low where it connects
- A clogged filter or sump
- The drain pump
1. Check that the disposer knockout plug has been removed if a disposer is connected. 2. Make sure the drain hose is not blocked or pinched and sits at least 32 inches high. 3. Clean the filters and clear the sump. 4. Press Cancel, turn the power off at the breaker or unplug for 3 minutes, then run a cycle.
- If the hose, plug and filters are all clear, we test the drain pump and its circuit.
- We look at the drain path from the tub to the sink connection, which owners cannot easily see.
- You get the price in writing first.

What does i20 mean?
i20 means the dishwasher did not finish draining. Water is left in the tub. A clogged filter, a pinched hose or an unremoved disposer plug is the usual reason.
What height should the drain hose be?
It should loop up to at least 32 inches before it goes to the drain or disposer. A hose that stays low can let dirty water flow back into the dishwasher.
I reset it and i20 came back. Now what?
Something is still blocking the drain or the drain pump is not working. We check the hose, the sump and the pump and give you the written price before any repair.
Still seeing i20?
A technician diagnoses it on site and gives you the price in writing before any work starts.
