What Sd means
Sd is a test-mode display on Frigidaire Professional direct-feed dishwashers, including models such as PLD4555RFC0 and PLD4375RFC0. It stands for detergent dispenser, and it tells you the control has activated the detergent dispenser during the test. It is a status message and not a problem report. You will only see it while the dishwasher is stepping through its test. These are older dishwashers still working in many homes, and we repair them when a dispenser really does stop opening.
Common causes of Sd
- The detergent dispenser release and the latch that holds the cover
- Detergent caked in the cup that keeps the cover from opening
- The wiring from the control to the dispenser
1. Make sure the test was started on purpose; Sd is part of it and will clear when the test ends. 2. Open the door and see whether the detergent cover is open or still latched. 3. Clean any hardened detergent from the cup and the cover with a damp cloth. 4. Run a normal cycle with fresh detergent and check that the cup is empty afterward.
- Seeing Sd only proves the control sent the signal to the dispenser; it does not show that the cover actually opened.
- We watch the dispenser operate and test the release and its wiring if the cup stays full.
- You get the price in writing before we touch anything.
Other Dishwasher codes
Is Sd an error?
No. Sd is a status message from the test sequence that says the detergent dispenser has been activated. It becomes a concern only if detergent is left in the cup after a wash. Sd by itself needs no repair.
What if my dishes still have detergent residue?
That usually points to a stuck cover, caked detergent or a dispenser release that is not opening. We check the cover and release first and test the wiring after that. If detergent stays in the cup after a cycle, that is when we get involved and look at the cover and release.
Do you work on dishwashers this old?
Yes. We repair older Frigidaire Professional dishwashers and tell you plainly if the cost is not worth it for the age of the machine. Those are the usual wear spots on a dispenser of this age.
Still unsure about Sd?
A technician diagnoses it on site and gives you the price in writing before any work starts.
