What rA means
On Frigidaire Professional fully integrated direct-feed dishwashers from the mid-2000s, such as models PLD4555RFC0 and PLD4375RFC0, rA means the control has sensed a problem with the reed switch in the rinse aid dispenser. The reed switch is the small sensor that tells the control the rinse aid level. It differs from the LO code, which only reports low rinse aid. These are older dishwashers we still repair.
Common causes of rA
- The reed switch in the rinse aid dispenser
- The wiring from the dispenser to the control
- The control board input for the switch
1. Open the dishwasher and check the rinse aid dispenser is filled to the line. 2. Close the door and run a cycle. 3. Wipe up any spilled rinse aid around the dispenser. 4. If rA returns, call us. 5. Do not add anything other than rinse aid to the dispenser.
- rA concerns the sensor, not the rinse aid level, so refilling alone will not clear it.
- We test the switch and its wiring before the control.
- This is an older model; we tell you plainly if a repair is not worth the cost.
Other Dishwasher codes
What does rA mean?
rA means the control found a problem with the reed switch in the rinse aid dispenser. The sensor that tracks the level is not reporting correctly.
How is rA different from LO?
LO means the rinse aid is low and needs refilling. rA means the sensor that watches the level has a problem. Refilling clears LO but not rA.
Can I keep running the dishwasher with rA?
Usually yes, since cleaning is not affected. The rinse aid level is not being tracked, so check it yourself. We can test the switch when convenient.
Still seeing rA?
A technician diagnoses it on site and gives you the price in writing before any work starts.
