What ER (Er) means

On Frigidaire Professional fully integrated direct-feed dishwashers from the mid-2000s, such as models PLD4555RFC0 and PLD4375RFC0, ER means the control has found a membrane switch failure. If any keypad pad stays pressed for a full minute, the control reports Er. The display may also alternate ER with CE, uo or uF. The dishwasher may not start while the keypad is reporting a stuck pad.

1. Close the door and make sure nothing is pressing the keypad. 2. Wipe the keypad with a dry cloth. 3. Press Cancel once and try a cycle. 4. If ER returns, stop using the dishwasher and call us. 5. Note whether ER shows alone or alternates with another message.

ER means the control sensed a keypad pad closed for a full minute and reported a membrane switch failure. The keypad or its connection is the first place we look.

Can a damp keypad cause ER?

Yes. Moisture on the keypad can short pads and trigger the message. Dry the keypad and try again. If ER returns, the membrane may be damaged.
