Frigidaire FRS6HF55KM Side-by-Side Refrigerator Repair

Most common issues on this model

Evaporator fan noise and frost on the freezer wall
Defrost heater, sensor and control
Door gaskets on both tall doors
Condenser fan and coils

The FRS6HF55KM is a Frigidaire side-by-side refrigerator, about 26 cubic feet, in a Silver Mist finish. It is no longer in production, so it falls in the older group, and we repair units like it for Houston owners who want to keep a refrigerator that has served them well.

Side-by-side refrigerators from this period often reach us with frost behind the freezer wall, a noisy fan or a warm fresh food section. The rear freezer panel comes off so we can examine the fan and defrost parts and clear any ice. Then we look at the condenser fan, coils and door gaskets. If your unit has a dispenser, we also look at the water valve and filter.

The full number on the label is our starting point before any part is ordered. The estimate is in writing, honesty about repair value comes with it, and our labor is under warranty for 30 days.

FRS6HF55KMFRS6HF55KM questions

Can you repair an older Silver Mist refrigerator?

Yes. We check parts for your exact label number first. If a common part like a fan, heater or gasket is available, the repair is often reasonable.

The freezer fan is loud. Do I need to replace it?

Ice touching the blade is a frequent reason a fan gets loud. We clear it, work out why it formed and replace the fan only when the motor is worn.

How do I know whether to repair or replace this refrigerator?

We compare the written repair price with the condition of the cabinet, doors and seals. If the unit is worn out, we tell you plainly, even if that means no repair.
