What H / HI means
H or HI on a Frigidaire electronic-display refrigerator means a compartment has been too warm for more than an hour. This covers French-door, side-by-side and four-door models, including the FG4H2272UF. On French-door and four-door models, the alarm sounds when the freezer reaches 26 degrees F or the fresh food section reaches 55 degrees F. HI can also show after power returns, and the high-temperature alarm follows about 20 minutes later. The alert clears when the compartment cools to about 25 degrees F in the freezer or 54 degrees F in the fresh food section.
Common causes of H / HI
- Doors left open or not sealing
- A power interruption or recent food loading that warmed the compartment
- A cooling problem in the sealed system, fans or defrost
- Temperature settings that are set too high
1. Check that all doors are closed and sealed. 2. Press Clear Alerts or Alarm Reset. 3. Set the refrigerator to 37 degrees F and the freezer to 0 degrees F. 4. Unplug the unit for 30 seconds, then plug it back in.
- If H or HI returns after the steps, we do not know whether the cause is a seal, a fan, defrost or the sealed system.
- We check how the compartments cool, then test fans, sensors and defrost before replacing anything.
- Parts are replaced only after you see the price in writing, and the work is covered for 30 days.

What temperature triggers the alarm?
On French-door and four-door models, the alarm sounds when the freezer reaches 26 degrees F or the fresh food section reaches 55 degrees F. Check the display to see which section is warm.
Is HI always a failure?
No. HI can appear after a power outage or after you load many warm groceries. If it clears after the compartments cool, it may not need service. If it keeps coming back, call us.
Do you repair older Frigidaire refrigerators with this alert?
Yes, many older units still serve Houston families. We find why the compartment warmed, quote the repair in writing, and tell you honestly if it is not worth doing.
Still seeing H / HI?
A technician diagnoses it on site and gives you the price in writing before any work starts.
