What E68 means

E68 is a key stuck error on Frigidaire Affinity and Gallery 5.8 cubic foot electronic-control dryers, along with the older 5.75 cubic foot Good and Better models. The control reports that one of the buttons is stuck closed, meaning it believes a button is being held down. The 2006 Affinity owner chart pairs it with six beeps and says the push button was held too long or is wedged in the control panel. The dryer may not start or may behave strangely. These are older dryers still in many homes, and we repair them.

1. Press each button lightly and release it. 2. Disengage any button that stays down. 3. Wipe the panel with a barely damp cloth, keeping moisture out of the edges. 4. Press Cancel and try again. 5. If E68 does not clear, we can schedule a visit.

How can a button be stuck when I cannot see it?

The pad can stick under the surface, or moisture or residue can hold it closed. We test the pads and the control. A button that looks fine can still be reading as stuck.

Is E68 the same as six beeps?

Yes. On the 2006 Affinity chart six beeps and E68 mean the same stuck push button. On the older Affinity chart, six beeps mean the same stuck button.
