What E9E means
E9E is a line voltage warning on Frigidaire Affinity 5.75 cubic foot 6000 and 7000 series dryers. The owner chart pairs it with nine beeps and describes low voltage or intermittent voltage reaching the dryer. It shows in the owner chart only, not in the service failure chart. The dryer may stop, restart or refuse to run. These are older dryers still in many homes, and we repair them.
Common causes of E9E
- Low or fluctuating voltage at the outlet
- A loose or worn power cord connection at the outlet or terminal block
- A breaker or fuse that is weak or partly tripped
- The control reading the voltage
1. Press Cancel. 2. Check that the power cord is fully seated in the outlet. 3. Look at the breaker panel and see whether the dryer breaker is tripped or loose. 4. Run a new cycle. 5. If the code reappears, call us to schedule service.
- The code says the voltage looks wrong, but not whether the problem is in the house wiring or inside the dryer.
- We measure the voltage at the outlet and at the dryer so we do not replace a part for a house problem.
- We tell you plainly if a repair on an older dryer would not be worth it.
Other Dryer codes
Is E9E a problem with my house or my dryer?
It can be either. The control reports that the voltage looks low or unsteady. We measure at the outlet and at the dryer to find out which. The voltage can be weak at the outlet, the breaker or the dryer's own connection.
Is it safe to keep running the dryer?
If the code returns, stop and have it checked. Low or unsteady voltage can stress the dryer. We measure before replacing anything. Tell us whether other large appliances on the same circuit misbehave, since that points toward the house wiring.
Do you service older Affinity dryers?
Yes. We repair them and give you a written price before any work. If the house wiring is the cause, we will tell you so and you will not pay for a dryer part.
Still seeing E9E?
A technician diagnoses it on site and gives you the price in writing before any work starts.
