What EF1 means
EF1 on a Frigidaire front-load washer means the drain pump is clogged. The horizontal-axis electronic control, used from the 3.0 cu ft Frigidaire and Gallery washers to the Affinity 6000 and 7000, watches how fast the tub empties. If the pump cannot move water out, the cycle stops and EF1 appears. Owners often see water left in the tub, clothes still soaked and a washer that will not spin. Coins, socks, lint and hair clips are the usual things that block it. On models without a display, the same condition is shown as light flashes.
Common causes of EF1
- Debris blocking the drain pump
- Kinked or clogged drain hose
- Standpipe or household drain backed up
- Pump not turning
1. Turn the washer off and unplug it. 2. Check the drain hose behind the washer for kinks. 3. Check that the household standpipe is not backed up. 4. Have the drain pump cleared of any blockage. If you are not comfortable, call us.
- EF1 says the pump is clogged, but a kinked hose, a clogged standpipe or a failed pump can look the same.
- We clear the pump and test the drain path, then give you a written price before any part is replaced.
- Water in the drum is a mess, and we tell you how we will handle it.
