What E11 means
E11 on Frigidaire front-load washers with the horizontal-axis electronic control means the water takes too long to fill. It is listed the same way on the 3.0 cubic foot Frigidaire and Gallery washers from about 2004 to 2006, the Affinity 6000 and 7000 Series from 2006, and the 3.5 cubic foot Affinity from 2009 to 2012. On the older 2004 washers, one beep also means water does not enter. Washers from this period are still working in Houston, and we service them.
Common causes of E11
- Water faucets that are not fully open
- Kinked inlet hoses or low water supply
- A clogged inlet screen or valve
- The water inlet valve or the control
1. Check that water flows from other faucets in the house. 2. Avoid running water elsewhere while the washer fills. 3. Fully open the supply faucets. 4. Straighten the hoses and check that the machine is not leaking. 5. Listen for the hum of the fill valve when the cycle starts.
- If E11 returns after the checks, we do not know whether the valve, the screens or the control is involved.
- We check the water flow at each hose and test the valve and its wiring.
- You see the price on paper before any part is replaced, and we say so if the washer is too old to justify it.
Other Washer codes
What does E11 mean?
It means the washer did not fill in the time the control expected. This is a fill problem rather than a drain problem, so the water supply side is where we start.
Can running water elsewhere in the house cause it?
Yes. If a shower or another faucet is running, the pressure can drop and the washer fills slowly. Avoid running other water while the washer fills.
Do you repair these older front-load washers?
Yes. Slow filling is a common repair on them in Houston homes. We find the cause, show the price in writing, and tell you plainly if a repair is not worth it.
Still seeing E11?
A technician diagnoses it on site and gives you the price in writing before any work starts.
