FAFW4221L
Frigidaire FAFW4221L Washer Repair
Most common issues on this model
- Control board and door switch
- Water inlet and fill level
- Drain pump and filter
- Spin noise and drum suspension
Frigidaire made the FAFW4221L as an Affinity front-load washer with a 3.68 cu. ft. drum and a black finish, and endings such as LB and LW show up on related units. It is out of production, though plenty of Houston kitchens and garages still have one next to a matching dryer.
When a washer like this fails to start, a quick test of power, door closure and the lock is our first step. When it starts but stops, the drain or the control is next. When it makes noise, we find out whether it comes from the pump, the drum or the suspension. Each branch has its own short list of tests, and we only recommend a part once a test points to it.
Houston humidity can also do slow damage to the door boot and drawer, so we look there during every visit. The plate on the washer settles which revision we are working on. You approve a written price before the work begins, and a 30-day guarantee covers the finished job.

How do you tell a pump noise from a bearing noise?
A pump noise changes during draining, while a bearing noise grows with spin speed. We run both phases and listen, and we also turn the drum by hand to check for roughness or play.
Can humidity damage a washer's controls?
Over time, moisture can corrode connectors and affect the board. When we diagnose an electrical problem, we look inside the control area for corrosion, residue and loose terminals.
What is different between FAFW4221L and FAFW4011L?
They are neighbors in the Affinity family with different drum sizes and numbers. Do not assume parts swap, because we order from your washer's own label.
