FCFE3083AS
Frigidaire FCFE3083AS Convection Range Repair

Most common issues on this model
- Convection fan turning freely and quietly
- Front-mounted knobs engaging the switches
- Surface element heat, including the dual element
- Door lock releasing after a self-clean
The FCFE3083AS is a 30 in electric range with the controls on the front panel rather than a back panel, which is why it is called front control. The oven is about 5.3 cu. ft. with convection, there is a dual expandable surface element, and the oven offers a 3-hour self-clean cycle. Frigidaire has retired it, so it counts as an older model, but it is still in use in many homes.
Front controls put the knobs in easy reach, and they also put the switches closer to heat and spills. When a knob feels loose or does not move a burner, we check the knob fit and then the switch behind it. For the oven, the convection fan is the next stop: a scraping or humming fan, or an oven that bakes unevenly, usually leads us to the fan motor or its blade.
After a self-clean the door can stay locked, and we test the latch and its motor. Where a repair is poor value on an older range, we tell you plainly. We read the model and serial off the label first, quote a written price, and warrant the labor for 30 days.

Error codes this model can show
The door on my FCFE3083AS stays locked after self-clean. What now?
Wait until the oven has cooled fully, since the lock should release then. If it stays locked, we test the lock motor and switch. Please do not force the door open, because the latch can be damaged.
Why is my convection fan noisy?
A fan blade that touches its guard, a loose set screw or a worn motor can all make noise. We take off the oven back cover, spin the blade by hand and test the motor before replacing anything.
What does a dual expandable element need from us?
If the large ring will not heat while the small center does, the outer section of the element or its switch is usually the cause. We test both sections to find which part has failed.
