DGHT2144K
Frigidaire DGHT2144K Top-Freezer Model Repair
Most common issues on this model
- Compressor and condenser fan operation
- Evaporator fan and damper airflow
- Defrost heater and thermostat
- Door seals and hinge alignment
The DGHT2144K is a larger Gallery top freezer refrigerator, 20.61 cu. ft., finished in stainless steel. The same number is also sold as DGHT2144KF and DGHT2144KR. It is an older model, and the brand no longer sells it.
More capacity means more cold air to move, so on a top freezer of this size we pay attention to how the compressor and fans cooperate. If the unit runs but does not cool well, we measure whether the compressor and condenser fan are working, then whether the evaporator fan and damper are delivering air to the fresh food section. Frost on the freezer wall points to the defrost heater and thermostat. Because the doors are heavy when stocked, we also check hinges and seals.
Parts come only after the technician has copied the label details. The price is written down and approved by you, and our labor is guaranteed for 30 days.

My DGHT2144K runs a lot but food is not cold. What now?
We check the compressor, condenser fan and coils, then the evaporator fan and damper. Frost on the evaporator is another common reason for weak cooling.
Can heavy door use damage the seals?
Yes. Stocked shelves load the hinges and wear gaskets over time. We inspect both, replace what is worn and adjust the door so it closes squarely and seals along the whole edge.
Does a bigger top freezer cost more to repair?
Parts for most common fixes are similar in cost, but we confirm the number from the label and quote in writing. We say plainly if a repair is not worth it.
