What E14 means
E14 on Frigidaire and Gallery 3.0 cubic foot front-load washers from about 2004 to 2006 reports that the dispenser drawer is open. It appears on the Good and Better lines, and on the Good models the code shows as LED flash counts. The washer will not operate while the dispenser drawer is open, so a cycle that will not start may simply need the drawer pushed in. A drawer that is closed but not seated, or one with a worn switch, can keep showing E14. The Affinity washers do not use this code.
Common causes of E14
- The dispenser drawer left open or not seated
- A reed switch that does not register the drawer closed
- The wiring to the switch
1. Push the dispenser drawer in until it is fully closed. 2. Check that nothing blocks the drawer or sticks out of the front. 3. Wipe the drawer area and restart the cycle. 4. Watch whether the code returns. 5. Keep the drawer free of detergent buildup that stops it sliding home.
- If E14 stays on with the drawer closed, we do not know whether the switch or the wiring is involved.
- We test the reed switch and its connector.
- A written price comes before any switch is replaced.
Other Washer codes
What does E14 mean?
It means the dispenser drawer is open, or the washer thinks it is. The washer will not run until the drawer is closed. It is a drawer switch message.
Is E14 on newer Frigidaire washers?
It belongs to the 3.0 cubic foot Frigidaire and Gallery washers from the mid-2000s, and the Affinity washers do not use it. Other washers use other codes.
Can you repair an older Gallery washer?
Yes, many are still in Houston homes. We test the drawer switch, write down the price, and tell you plainly if a repair is not worth it.
Still unsure about E14?
A technician diagnoses it on site and gives you the price in writing before any work starts.
