What F13 means
On current Frigidaire electric ranges and cooktops, freestanding ranges built since about 2004, and Gallery and Professional slide-in ranges from 2009, F13 means the electronic oven control found bad data in its memory, an EEPROM or checksum error. The settings stored in the control no longer add up the way they should. Some lists call it an EEPROM failure. You may see F13 at startup, with the oven unable to run or the clock and settings behaving oddly.
Common causes of F13
- The memory on the electronic oven control
- A power surge or brownout that damaged stored settings
- Loose connections to the control
1. Switch the range off. 2. Give the control a rest by removing power for up to 30 seconds, then put the power back. 3. Set the clock again if the display asks, and see whether F13 returns. 4. Leave the control panel closed.
- A reset can clear a one-time memory glitch, but an F13 that keeps returning means the stored data will not hold.
- We check the power reaching the control and look for signs of a power problem in the home first.
- If the control needs replacing, you see a written price first.
Other Range codes
Can a power surge cause F13?
Yes. A surge or a brownout can scramble what the control has stored. If a reset fixes it for good, that may be the end of it. If F13 repeats, the memory on the control is the real question.
Is F13 the same as an E Prompt Failure?
Frigidaire lists the same trouble under both names, EEPROM failure in one place and E Prompt Failure in another. Either way, the control memory is what the code is about.
Can you fix an older range that shows F13?
Yes. Many older ranges are still cooking in Houston homes, and we repair them. If a new control costs too much for the range, we tell you plainly before you decide.
Still seeing F13?
A technician diagnoses it on site and gives you the price in writing before any work starts.
