What dP / FL / rt means
On Frigidaire Professional fully integrated direct-feed dishwashers from the mid-2000s, such as models PLD4555RFC0 and PLD4375RFC0, rt means the control has entered its relay and triac test program. Within that test, dP shows when the drain pump pad is pressed and FL shows when the water valve pad is pressed. These are test messages for technicians, not failures, so seeing them usually means keypad pads were pressed in a certain order.
Common causes of dP / FL / rt
- The control entered its test program from keypad presses
- A stuck or shorted keypad pad that keeps triggering the test
- The control board
1. Close the door and stop pressing the keypad pads. 2. Wipe any moisture off the keypad with a dry cloth. 3. Press Cancel once and see if the display returns to normal. 4. If rt, dP or FL keep appearing, call us. 5. Check that the lower rack and spray arm are not blocked.
- If the test program appears without anyone entering it, a pad may be sticking and we test the keypad.
- We confirm the dishwasher still fills and drains when you run a normal cycle.
- This is an older model, and we say plainly if a new keypad or control is not worth the cost.

What do rt, dP and FL mean?
rt means the dishwasher is in its relay and triac test. Inside that test, dP is the drain pump and FL is the water valve being turned on. They are test messages, not failures.
Why did my dishwasher enter the test program?
Pressing certain keypad pads in a sequence starts it. A keypad that is damp, worn or stuck can do the same on its own. Both are fairly common on older keypads.
Do I need a repair for this?
Only if it keeps happening or the dishwasher will not run a normal cycle. We check the keypad first and give you the written price before any work.
