What Filter means

The Filter light, labeled Check Filter on some panels, comes on after 250 hours of operation on Frigidaire dehumidifiers with a digital display in the FFAD, FFAP and FGAC families. It is a maintenance reminder, not a problem code. The unit keeps dehumidifying while the light is lit. The air filter should still be washed, because a dirty filter reduces airflow and makes the unit work harder.

1. Unplug the dehumidifier. 2. Remove the filter, wash it and let it dry completely. 3. Put the dry filter back and plug the unit in. 4. Press the Filter Reset button so the light goes out. 5. Let the filter dry fully before reinstalling it, so no dampness gets into the unit.

! Why to stop there

If the light returns right after a reset, the button or control may not be registering the press.
If dehumidifying is weak even with a clean filter, airflow or the coil is the next thing we check.
This is a normal reminder and no repair is needed unless the light will not clear.

No. It only means the unit has run about 250 hours and the filter should be cleaned. The dehumidifier keeps running normally until you reset it. You can keep using it.

How do I turn the Filter light off?

Wash and dry the filter, put it back, then press the Filter Reset button. The hour counter starts over and the light goes off. It takes only a minute.

What if the light will not go off?

Check that you held the reset button as the panel describes. If it still stays on after a clean filter and a reset, the control may need a quick test.
