What E4 (stand-alone) means

On Frigidaire FFAD and FFAP dehumidifiers, such as models FFAD3533W1 and FFAP5034W1, E4 alone on the display means the communication between the display board and the main control board is broken. The boards must pass information back and forth, so when they cannot, the unit may ignore the buttons or stop running. This explains E4 on its own, apart from the C5 code that is listed with it on some units.
