What CO means
CO on a Frigidaire dehumidifier with a digital display is not an error. When the unit is set to CONTINUOUS mode, the display shows CO in place of the room humidity reading. The dehumidifier simply runs without a target. This applies to the FFAD, FFAP and FGAC families. If you expected to see a humidity percentage, check which mode the unit is in.
Common causes of CO
- Continuous mode selected on the control
- The humidity setting was changed by accident
1. Press the humidity setting control on the panel. 2. Choose a target between 35 and 85 percent. 3. Wait a moment to see the room humidity reading return to the display. 4. If the display still shows CO, unplug the unit for a minute and try again.
- If the setting will not change from CO, the keypad or control may not be responding and we test it.
- A unit stuck in continuous mode can run nonstop and ice up the coil.
- We check the controls before suggesting a part.
Other Dehumidifier codes
Is CO a problem code?
No. It tells you the unit is in continuous mode, so it runs without aiming for a particular humidity. Choose a humidity setting to turn continuous mode off.
How do I get out of continuous mode?
Select a humidity setting between 35 and 85 percent on the control panel. The display should go back to showing room humidity once a target is set.
The unit ran all night on CO. Did it hurt anything?
Usually not. Continuous mode simply runs without stopping at a target. If the coil frosts or the bucket fills constantly, change the setting and let the unit defrost.
Still unsure about CO?
A technician diagnoses it on site and gives you the price in writing before any work starts.
