Ice Maker Repair in Houston
Frigidaire ice makers sit in the freezer of many refrigerators, and some units are built-in or portable. We repair slow, stalled, small-cube and leaking ice makers, and we look at the water supply before replacing any part.

Common ice maker problems we fix
In the order we see them across Houston homes.
No ice at all in the bin
Cubes that are tiny, hollow or fused together
Ice tasting or smelling off
Water leaking from the dispenser or ice maker
Ice maker making noise but producing nothing
Bin full of ice but dispenser not delivering
Frigidaire ice makers range from the simple arm-and-tray type to dispenser setups in larger refrigerators. All of them rely on the same chain: water comes in through a valve, freezes in a mold, and is ejected into a bin. A problem at any step looks like missing or poor ice.
Hard Houston water leaves scale on the valve and in the fill tube, which slows the flow. Warm kitchens and frequent door opening also keep the freezer from holding the temperature the ice maker needs. Storm outages can freeze a tube solid or stop a cycle partway.
We look at the supply line first, then the filter, the inlet valve, the freezer temperature and the ice maker mold and ejector. Older units are fine to repair when the fix is a valve or a filter, and we tell you straight when the whole refrigerator is the bigger issue.

What usually makes an ice maker quit?
A closed or kinked water line, a clogged filter, a frozen fill tube or a bad inlet valve are common causes. A freezer that runs warm can also stall the cycle. We check water, temperature and the ice maker itself, in that order.
Is a new water filter the fix for small cubes?
Sometimes. A clogged filter restricts flow and makes small or hollow cubes, so replacing it is a cheap first step. If cubes stay small with a new filter, the water valve, line pressure or fill tube is the next suspect.
My ice smells or tastes strange. What can I do?
Old ice absorbs freezer odors, and a worn filter lets taste through. Empty and wash the bin, replace the filter and discard the first few batches. If the taste remains, tell us the model and we check the water line and tank.
