What Ice Full means
The ICE FULL light on Frigidaire-brand countertop ice makers such as the EFIC117, EFIC108 and EFIC123 turns on when the ice basket is full and the infrared beam is blocked. Ice production stops until you take some ice out. That is normal. If the light is on and the basket is empty, something else is blocking or confusing the beam, such as dirt on the sensor or bright sunlight.
Common causes of Ice Full
- A full basket that blocks the infrared beam
- Dirt or film on the infrared emitter and receiver
- Sunlight reaching the sensor
- A sensor or control that reads blocked when it is clear
1. Remove ice from the basket. 2. If the light is on with an empty basket, wipe the infrared emitter and receiver with a soft cloth. 3. Move the unit out of direct sunlight. 4. Restart the ice maker. 5. If the light stays on, call us to schedule service.
- A light that stays on with an empty basket and clean sensors points to a failed sensor or control, and that needs testing.
- We test the sensor and the control, and clean the sensor first.
- We tell you plainly if a countertop unit is not worth repairing.

Why does Ice Full stay on when the basket is empty?
The infrared beam may be blocked by dirt or confused by sunlight. Clean the sensor and move the unit from sunlight. Remove some ice and the light should go out and production start again.
Does ICE FULL mean something is broken?
No. It is a normal signal that the basket is full and the unit has stopped making ice. Keep the unit away from bright windows.
Is it worth repairing a countertop ice maker?
Sometimes. We quote in writing first and say plainly when it makes more sense to replace. A clean sensor is the easiest fix. Tell us whether the light comes on only in the afternoon, since that points to sunlight.
