FFGF3054TS is a freestanding gas range, 30 in wide. On top it has sealed burners under cast-iron grates; below, a self-cleaning oven and a storage drawer. My FFGF3054TS burners tick even after the flame is lit. Why?
A wet or dirty burner base can keep the spark module sending sparks, and a worn switch can do the same. We clean and dry the burner first, then test the module and switch.
Why is the oven slow to preheat on my gas range?
A weak igniter opens the gas valve slowly, so the oven is slow to light. We check the igniter current and the flame size. A dirty oven burner can also slow it.
Do cast-iron grates need any repair?
Usually not, since cast iron is heavy and durable. What we do check is that each grate sits flat on the cooktop, because a rocking grate can push a burner cap out of place.
