Frigidaire EFIC108 Ice Maker Repair

Frigidaire ice maker

Most common issues on this model

  1. Whether the reservoir pump moves water to the tray when the Add Water light is on
  2. Ice Full light staying lit with an empty basket
  3. Ice that sticks to the fingers instead of dropping
  4. Mineral scale in the reservoir and on the water path

The EFIC108 is a Frigidaire countertop ice maker that makes about 26 lb of ice per day. It is sold with color suffixes such as black, white, silver or red, so the label on your unit may show a few extra characters after the number.

A unit like this lives on a kitchen counter, a bar top or a garage shelf. It has Add Water and Ice Full indicator lights and a choice of small or large ice, so those are the first things we test. We watch whether water actually reaches the tray, whether the full-basket sensing reads correctly when the basket is empty, and whether the cubes let go of the fingers. We also look for mineral scale in the reservoir, which slows any compact ice maker.

Most owners now have this style out of warranty, so if a repair would cost more than a replacement, you will hear that from us first. The label gives us the exact model and serial before any part is ordered. The written price is yours to approve, and the labor is backed for 30 days.

EFIC108EFIC108 questions
Why does my EFIC108 say Add Water when the reservoir is full?

We check the water level sensing and the pump that lifts water to the tray. Scale or a stuck float can make the light stay on even with water inside. We clean the reservoir first, then test the sensing parts before suggesting a replacement.

Can the ice size setting cause the cubes to look hollow or small?

The small and large selection changes how long the tray freezes, so a very small cube can be normal on that setting. If large ice still comes out thin or hollow, we check the water fill and the cooling side of the unit.

Is a 26 lb countertop ice maker worth repairing?

Sometimes. A pump, a sensor or a scaled-up water path can make a repair reasonable. When the cooling system itself has quit, a new unit usually costs less, and you hear that from us before spending a dollar.
