What F1 or F2 means
F1 and F2 on Frigidaire dehumidifiers with a digital display are sensor messages. They report that a temperature or humidity sensor has failed on units in the FFAD, FFAP and FGAC families. The control cannot read the room the way it needs to, so the unit may keep running or stop at the wrong time. You will see F1 or F2 on the display instead of the usual humidity reading.
Common causes of F1 or F2
- The temperature or humidity sensor
- The sensor connection or wiring
- The input on the main board that listens to the sensor
1. Unplug the unit for about a minute. 2. Restore power and set a humidity level. 3. Check that the filter is clean and the air intake is clear. 4. If either code reappears, call us to schedule a repair. 5. Note which of the two codes appears, since it helps us trace the sensor.
- The two codes do not tell us which sensor is affected, so we test each one.
- Unplugging only shows us whether the reading was a one-time glitch.
- We give you the price in writing, and we say plainly if the unit is too old to justify the repair.
Other Dehumidifier codes
What do F1 and F2 mean?
They report that a sensor has failed. The dehumidifier relies on its sensors to decide when to run, so a failed sensor can lead to constant running, no running or a wrong humidity reading.
Will F1 or F2 go away on its own?
Sometimes a brief glitch clears after unplugging. If it keeps showing, the sensor or its connection has a lasting problem that needs to be tested and fixed.
Do you repair older Frigidaire dehumidifiers?
Yes. We repair many older units still in Houston homes, and we tell you when a repair is not worth it before any work begins.
Still seeing F1 or F2?
A technician diagnoses it on site and gives you the price in writing before any work starts.
