What E76 means
E76 on a Frigidaire front-load washer means the temperature reading at the cold water valve is outside its limits. On the 3.0 cu ft Frigidaire and Gallery washers of roughly 2004 to 2006, the owner chart describes this as cold water not entering the washer, with seven beeps on models without a display. The same code is used on the later Affinity 6000 and 7000. Owners often find the cold hose on the wrong faucet or the cold faucet turned off. Otherwise the cold valve circuit needs a look.
Common causes of E76
- Cold hose connected to the wrong faucet
- Cold water faucet turned off or partly closed
- Cold water inlet screen clogged
- Cold valve or its temperature circuit
1. Connect the cold hose to the cold water faucet and to the cold inlet on the washer. 2. Be sure the cold water faucet is fully open. 3. Check that the hose is not kinked behind the washer. 4. Restart the cycle. If E76 returns, call us.
- If the hoses and faucets are right and E76 returns, we do not yet know whether the valve, the inlet screen or the sensing is responsible.
- We test the cold valve and its circuit and give you a written price before any repair.
- On an older washer we tell you plainly if the repair does not make sense.
Other Washer codes
Do I have the hoses on the wrong faucets?
It is the first thing to check. The hose marked cold must go to the cold faucet and the cold inlet. Swapped hoses are a common cause.
What do seven beeps mean?
On older models without a display, the chart uses beeps instead of a printed code. Seven beeps matches E76. We can confirm during a visit.
Is E76 expensive to fix?
Often the cause is a hose or faucet and costs nothing. If it is the valve, we give you a written price before any work.
Still seeing E76?
A technician diagnoses it on site and gives you the price in writing before any work starts.
