What E2 means
E2 on a Frigidaire top-load washer with a digital display means the water takes too long to drain, or does not drain properly. The control watches the water level fall after the wash or rinse and stops the cycle if the level does not drop in time. You may see a tub full of water mid-cycle, clothes that stay soaked, or a washer that stops and shows E2. A kinked or clogged drain hose, a standpipe set too high or a clog in the household drain is often the reason.
Common causes of E2
- A kinked or clogged drain hose
- A standpipe that is too high or a clog in the household drain
- A pump that is blocked or not running
- A tripped breaker or blown fuse that cut power
1. Check the fuse or circuit breaker. 2. Check that the standpipe is at the recommended height. 3. Straighten the drain hose or clear any clog. 4. Close the lid and press Start/Pause to resume the cycle. 5. Keep the lid open for a moment to check for standing water before you restart.
- If E2 returns after the hose and standpipe are fine, we do not know whether the pump, the drain path or the control is the cause.
- We check the drain path and the pump, and we look at what is stuck in the pump.
- The price is in writing before any pump is replaced, and the work is covered for 30 days.
Other Washer codes
Why is there water left in the tub?
The washer could not drain it in time. A kinked hose, a clog or a blocked pump is often behind it. We check the drain path from the tub to the wall.
Can I bail out the water?
You may, if you do it safely. Unplug the washer first and use towels. If the water is dirty, wear gloves. If you are unsure, call us.
Do you fix older top-load washers with this code?
We do. Many are still working around Houston. We find what is blocking the drain, quote the repair in writing, and tell you if it is not worth doing.
Still seeing E2?
A technician diagnoses it on site and gives you the price in writing before any work starts.
