What F92 means

On Frigidaire freestanding gas and electric ranges built since about 2004, such as the PLEF398DC and GLEF378DS, F92 means the oven door stayed open longer than the control allows. This can be real, such as a door held open during a cycle, or it can be a false reading from the oven door light switch, which the control also uses to see whether the door is open. You may see F92 with the oven refusing to start.

1. Close the oven door completely. 2. Make sure nothing, such as a rack or pan handle, keeps it ajar. 3. Switch the range's power off for up to 30 seconds at the plug or breaker, then back on. 4. Do not open the back of the range.

Can the oven light switch cause F92?

Yes. If the switch sticks, the control thinks the door is open even when it is shut. We check it as part of the visit, along with how the door closes.

Does the door need to close fully for F92 to clear?

Yes. A door that does not seat completely can make the control think it is still open, so we check the hinges and the seal as well.

Will a reset fix F92?

Only if the cause was a one-time glitch. If the code returns, the door switch or the door itself needs a look, and we give you a written price first.
