What F68 / F69 means
On Frigidaire ranges with later electronic oven controls, F68 or F69 means the control sees a high voltage condition. The usual reason is that L1 or L2 has been crossed with neutral on the incoming supply, so a leg is carrying the wrong voltage. It points to the home wiring, the range cord or the power connection rather than the oven itself. You may see the code at power-up with the oven not running.
Common causes of F68 / F69
- The range's power cord or terminal connection
- The outlet or the wiring behind it
- The incoming supply at the breaker panel
- The control's voltage sensing
1. Turn the range off and leave it off. 2. Do not keep resetting the breaker or plug. 3. Stay away from the connection at the back of the range. 4. Call us, and call an electrician if you doubt the home wiring.
- High voltage is a safety question, so we ask about recent electrical work, outages or a new cord.
- We check the connection at the range, the outlet and the voltage the control sees.
- You get a written price first, and we say plainly if the issue is in the house wiring and not the range.
Other Range codes
Is it safe to keep using the range with F68?
No. Leave it off until the supply is checked, since the control sees a voltage that is not right. Using it could stress the range and the wiring.
Could my house wiring be the cause of F69?
Yes. A crossed leg on the incoming supply is a common reason. We check the range connection and tell you if the problem is in the house wiring and not the range.
Will resetting the power fix F68?
Not if the supply is wrong. We would not keep resetting it, because the supply has to be corrected first, and that may call for an electrician.
Still seeing F68 / F69?
A technician diagnoses it on site and gives you the price in writing before any work starts.
