What F26 means
On Frigidaire ranges with the Bake-N-Warm double oven, such as the PLEFM399DC, F26 means the main control lost communication with the mini oven control. The lower mini oven has its own board, and the main control checks that harness and a 15-volt DC supply to it. The code is grouped with F3 and F20 as a communication error. You may find the small lower oven will not heat or the display shows F26 at startup.
Common causes of F26
- The harness to the mini oven control
- The supply the board needs, which we measure
- The mini oven control board
- The main oven control
1. Turn off both ovens. 2. Turn off the breaker or unplug the range for up to 30 seconds, then put it back on. 3. Try the main oven first, then the mini oven. 4. Do not open the lower oven panel or the back cover.
- F26 is about the mini oven link and not the main oven, so one oven can work while the other cannot.
- We test the harness and the supply to the mini board before suspecting the board itself.
- You get a written price first, and an honest word on whether an older Bake-N-Warm range is worth the repair.
Other Range codes
Is my main oven affected by F26?
Often not. The code concerns the lower mini oven control, so the main oven may still bake. We would test both ovens to be sure before telling you what works and what does not.
What does Bake-N-Warm mean?
It is the small lower oven in these double-oven ranges. The M in the model number marks the type, as in the PLEFM399DC. The code tells us the main control cannot reach that lower oven's board.
Can you repair these older double-oven ranges?
Yes. A good number of them still run in Houston homes, and repairing them is part of our work. You get a written price first, and we tell you plainly if a repair is not worth it.
Still seeing F26?
A technician diagnoses it on site and gives you the price in writing before any work starts.
