What F25 means
On Frigidaire ranges with later electronic oven controls, F25 is a communication failure between the oven control and the VSC board. Our first check for this code is whether about 5 volts DC reaches the VSC board at its P6 connector, which tells us whether the supply is there. You may see the code at startup with parts of the control not responding. Because F23 and F25 sit close together in the code list, they are easy to mistake for each other.
Common causes of F25
- The 5-volt supply to the VSC board
- The harness and connector at the board
- The VSC board itself
- The oven control
1. Turn off the oven and all the elements. 2. Interrupt power at the plug or breaker for a short time, then bring it back. 3. Note whether F25 returns the moment power comes back. 4. Keep the back cover on, and leave the measuring to us.
- The 5 volts reaching the board is our first measurement, and it is not something an owner should check.
- We test the supply at the connector, then the harness, then the board and the control.
- A written price comes before any replacement, and we say plainly when it is not worth it.
Other Range codes
What is the VSC board?
It is a secondary control board in the range that exchanges messages with the oven control. F25 means those two are not talking, so something in the supply, the harness or a board needs testing.
Could my range have F23 instead of F25?
No. F23 concerns the surface element control and F25 concerns the VSC board. They are related communication problems, so we test the link before we say which board is involved.
Can an older range with F25 be repaired?
Often yes, particularly when the cause is a supply or connector problem. If a board is needed, we tell you plainly whether the cost makes sense for the range.
Still seeing F25?
A technician diagnoses it on site and gives you the price in writing before any work starts.
