What F14 means
Frigidaire freestanding gas and electric ranges built since about 2004, and Gallery and Professional slide-ins such as the FGES3065KB, show F14 when the control finds that the display ribbon to the touch panel is missing or not connected. On a slide-in range it can also mean the keyboard cable was plugged into the wrong header. The display may be blank, partly lit or flickering, and the keys may not answer. This is a wiring link between the panel and the control, not an oven temperature problem.
Common causes of F14
- The ribbon connector between the touch panel and the control, which can loosen
- A keyboard cable seated in the wrong place after earlier work on the range
- A cracked ribbon or touch panel
- The control reading that connection
1. Switch the range off and dry the panel with a soft cloth. 2. Turn the range's breaker off for a bit, or unplug it, then switch everything back on. 3. Notice whether the display behaves differently after the panel has warmed up. 4. Do not pry off the panel or unplug anything yourself.
- A ribbon that is loose can come and go, so the display may look fine on the day we arrive.
- We reseat and inspect the connection, check how the cable is routed, then test the panel and the control.
- You get a written price first, and a straight answer if the age of the range makes a panel replacement hard to justify.

Can F14 be fixed without a new control?
Often it can, because the code points to a connection. We check the ribbon and cable first. If those are sound, we look at the panel and then the control.
Why is my display blank along with F14?
The control is not seeing the display link, so there may be nothing to show. A loose ribbon is a common reason, though a damaged panel can do the same.
Do you repair older Frigidaire ranges with this code?
Yes. Houston still has a lot of older ranges like this, and we repair them. We tell you before we start if the repair does not pay off.
Still seeing F14?
A technician diagnoses it on site and gives you the price in writing before any work starts.
