What OP (Refrigerator Display) means
OP shown in the fresh food display of a Frigidaire Gallery or Professional French-door bottom-freezer refrigerator with an electronic display tells you the fresh food sensor reads as open. The same code appears on electronic side-by-side models, while older side-by-sides show a 2 in the fresh food window. With no temperature from the sensor, the control cannot decide when to cool the fresh food section, so it may run too warm, or too cold and freeze produce. OP is a code that needs service.
Common causes of OP (Refrigerator Display)
- The fresh food temperature sensor
- The connector or wire from the sensor to the control
- The board input tied to that sensor
1. Close the doors firmly and check that nothing props them open. 2. Check the fresh food section for frozen items and move them away from the vents. 3. If the section feels warm, put perishables in a cooler. 4. Do not remove panels.
- We cannot tell from OP which part of the sensor circuit is open.
- We measure the sensor and inspect the connector before replacing anything.
- The written price comes first, and the repair is covered by our 30-day workmanship warranty.
Other Refrigerator codes
What does OP in the refrigerator display mean?
It means the fresh food sensor circuit reads open, so the control cannot read the section temperature. Service is needed to find the broken part of the circuit.
How is this different from OP in the freezer display?
The code is the same, but it shows which section the sensor is in. A freezer OP is the freezer sensor, and a fresh food OP is the fresh food sensor.
Can you repair an older French-door refrigerator?
We can, and many are still in Houston homes. After testing, you get a written price and an honest answer if the unit is not worth repairing.
Still seeing OP (Refrigerator Display)?
A technician diagnoses it on site and gives you the price in writing before any work starts.
