The FGMV176NTF is a 30-inch Gallery over-the-range microwave of about 1.7 cu. ft. It has sensor cooking, a SpaceWise rack, a PureAir microwave filter and an Effortless Clean interior with LED lighting. This is a discontinued model, and plenty of owners still have one above their stove.
The PureAir filter sits in the airflow path, so a filter that has not been changed can make the fan seem tired even when the motor is fine. How do I know if the PureAir filter needs to be changed?
If the fan sounds fine but air barely moves, or the filter is dark and clogged, it is due. We check it as part of any vent visit and tell you whether a new one is all you need.
Why does my SpaceWise rack cause sparks?
A rack that touches the cavity wall, or one with chipped coating, can arc. We stop using it, inspect the walls and the waveguide cover, and replace the rack or the cover if they are damaged.
