What E-03 means
E-03 appears on Frigidaire convection microwaves, such as FPMO209KF, when the warm, convection, preheat or broil mode does not reach the set value within three minutes. The control cancels the mode and shows E-03. The microwave itself may still run, but the oven-heating side is not coming up to temperature. The handbook does not say which individual models carry this code, so we say what it means and check your model when we visit.
Common causes of E-03
- The convection heater or its supply
- The oven thermal sensor reading
- A fan or airflow issue in the convection system
- The control board
1. Let the microwave cool for a few minutes with the door open. 2. Check that the vents are not blocked. 3. Try a normal microwave cycle to see whether that still works. 4. If E-03 returns in convection modes, call us to schedule service.
- We cannot tell from the code alone whether the heater, the sensor or the control is the cause.
- We test the heating circuit and the thermal sensor before any part is replaced.
- You get the price in writing first, and we tell you plainly if the microwave is not worth the repair.
Other Microwave codes
Can I still use the microwave part?
Often yes, because the code is about convection heating. Try a plain microwave cycle, and have the convection side checked. The convection side and the microwave side are separate systems.
Why does it cancel after three minutes?
The control expects the set temperature within three minutes. If it does not reach it, it cancels the mode and shows E-03. The code appears when the set temperature is not reached in time.
Do you repair convection microwaves?
Yes. We repair them and tell you plainly if a repair does not make sense for the age of the unit. Our visit tests the heater and the sensor.
Still seeing E-03?
A technician diagnoses it on site and gives you the price in writing before any work starts.
