What ERROR means
ERROR on Frigidaire sensor-cook microwaves, including FGMV185KB, FMV156DBE, GLMV169DB and FGMO205KF, means the sensor did not detect food vapor in time, or the door was opened or STOP-CLEAR was touched during the first stage of sensor cooking. If the sensor itself has a problem, the oven shuts off and shows ERROR. Most of the time ERROR is a cooking-setup message and not a breakdown.
Common causes of ERROR
- Food that gives off too little vapor
- A door opened or a pad touched in the first stage
- A sensor or control that cannot read vapor
1. Do not open the door during the first stage of sensor cooking. 2. Do not touch STOP-CLEAR while it is sensing. 3. Wipe the inside of the microwave and try again. 4. Use a timed cook for foods that give off little vapor. 5. If ERROR comes up every time, call us to schedule service.
- If ERROR returns every time with good setup, the sensor or control is the likely cause and we have to test it.
- We run a real sensor cook and test the sensor circuit.
- A repair that costs more than the microwave is worth gets an honest answer from us.
Other Microwave codes
Does ERROR mean my microwave is broken?
Not usually. It often means the sensor setup was interrupted or no vapor was sensed. A repeated ERROR needs a check. Some foods give off little vapor, which can leave the sensor with nothing to detect.
What interrupts sensor cooking?
Opening the door or touching STOP-CLEAR during the first stage cancels it. Using a timed setting avoids the problem. Tell us which sensor setting you used and what food, so we can repeat it during the visit.
Do you repair over-the-range microwaves?
Yes. We repair them and give a written price first. If ERROR repeats on foods that normally work, we test the sensor. Press STOP-CLEAR only after the cycle ends, and not during the first stage, to avoid canceling it.
Still unsure about ERROR?
A technician diagnoses it on site and gives you the price in writing before any work starts.
