What F90-F94 means
Frigidaire wall ovens and ranges with a motorized self-clean latch, such as the FGET3065PF wall oven and the FFEW3026TS range, show F90 through F94 when the control cannot finish a lock or unlock the way it expects. The five codes split the problem up: F90 is an unlock that took too long, F91 too many unlock attempts, F92 a door left open too long, F93 a lock that took too long, and F94 too many lock attempts. You will usually see a door that will not unlock after a clean cycle, or an oven that refuses to start. An older wall oven may show the same trouble as a single F9.
Common causes of F90-F94
- The motor that drives the door latch, and whether it turns freely
- The latch switch that tells the control the door is locked or unlocked
- The door itself, since a door that sits slightly open or binds can look like a lock problem
- The wiring between the latch assembly and the oven control
1. Cancel any cycle and give the oven time to cool until the door is comfortable to touch. 2. Look for anything holding the door ajar, such as a pan handle, a rack or an oven liner. 3. Unplug the oven or trip its breaker for up to 30 seconds, then power it back up. 4. Run a short bake to see whether the code comes back, and leave a stuck door alone.
- Clearing the message does not tell us whether the latch motor or its switch caused it.
- We watch the latch go through a full lock and unlock, then test the motor and the switch on their own.
- A door that is stuck shut is something we will talk through on the phone, and a written price comes before any part is replaced.
Other Wall Oven codes
Which code do I have, F90 or F94?
The last digit tells us which step ran out of time or attempts. F90 and F91 are about unlocking, F93 and F94 are about locking, and F92 is a door held open too long. We use that to know what to test first.
Is it safe to use the oven with this code?
The code shows up because the control cannot count on the latch, so it may stop bake or clean cycles. Do not force the door. If the oven works normally after a reset, you can use it until we look at it.
Can I still use an older Frigidaire oven that shows an F9?
Yes, we repair older wall ovens that show a single F9, and plenty of them are still running in Houston kitchens. We find the latch problem, give you a written price, and tell you plainly if the repair is not worth it.
Still seeing F90-F94?
A technician diagnoses it on site and gives you the price in writing before any work starts.
