What F21 / F23 (shown as F2) means
On older Frigidaire Professional and Gallery wall ovens that show only F1, F2, F3 or F9, F2 stands for communication problems between boards. F21 is a communication problem with the auxiliary board. F23 is a communication problem with the touch panel board, the glass touch panel. You see F2 and the oven may not respond to the touch panel. These ovens are still in many homes.
Common causes of F21 / F23 (shown as F2)
- The wiring or ribbon between the boards
- The auxiliary board
- The glass touch panel board
- The oven control
1. Press CLEAR. 2. Cut power to the oven for 30 seconds at the plug or breaker, then turn it back on. 3. If F2 returns, call us to schedule service. 4. Do not keep pressing the touch panel, since repeated presses will not help. 5. Note whether the display responds at all. 6. Keep the oven off until we check it.
- The display shows F2 only, so the exact board is not clear.
- We read the exact code and check the connection between boards before replacing one.
- If the oven is too old to justify a repair, we will say so.

What does F2 mean?
It stands for a communication problem between boards. We read the exact code. The auxiliary board and the touch panel board are separate parts of the control.
Is the touch panel the problem?
It can be, if the code is F23. F21 points to the auxiliary board. A communication problem can sit in either one or in the link between them.
Can you repair these ovens?
Yes. We quote the price in writing first. We check the connection first. Tell us whether the touch panel still responds, since that helps us choose between the two.
