What F10 means

F10 means the control has detected a runaway oven condition on Frigidaire wall ovens and range ovens that use a two-digit electronic oven control. The oven is getting hotter than it should. The control may have a shorted relay or the temperature sensor may be bad. On the 2003 wall ovens the same problem shows as F1, and F10 can be read on those through a technician's recall. The owner guidance is to disconnect power if the oven keeps overheating.

Common causes of F10

  • A relay on the control that has shorted closed
  • A temperature sensor (RTD) reading wrong
  • The electronic oven control
✓ One safe check you can try

1. Turn the oven off and leave the door closed to let it cool. 2. Disconnect power at the plug or the breaker for up to 30 seconds, then restore it. 3. Do not use the oven again if it overheats or smells burned. 4. Call us to schedule service.

! Why to stop there
  • A reset only shows whether the problem was momentary; a shorted relay or bad sensor will bring it back.
  • We check the sensor and the relay before the control is replaced.
  • If a repair would cost more than the oven is worth, we tell you before any work starts.
Opening a panel yourself does not automatically cancel a manufacturer warranty, but it can cause accidental damage, and some manufacturers set their own service conditions. Check your warranty terms, or ask us, before deciding.
F10F10 questions
Is F10 dangerous?

An oven that keeps heating past its set temperature is a safety concern. Turn it off and disconnect power if it overheats. Do not leave the oven running unattended if it seems hotter than set.

Does F10 mean the sensor or the control?

It can be either. The control may have a shorted relay, or the sensor may be bad. We test both. Turn it off and let it cool.

Do you repair older ovens?

Yes. We repair them and say plainly when a repair does not make sense. Our check includes the relay, which can stick closed. Do not use self-clean or broil until we have checked it, and tell us what you were cooking.
