Frigidaire FGMO205KF Built-In Microwave Repair

Frigidaire microwave

Most common issues on this model

  1. Heating that quit while the fan still runs
  2. Door that is hard to latch or stops the unit from starting
  3. Control panel that misses key presses
  4. Cooling fan that is noisy or runs after the cooking ends

The FGMO205KF is a Gallery built-in microwave of about 2.0 cu. ft. with a stainless steel finish and electronic controls. It installs in a cabinet opening and can use an optional trim kit. It is a discontinued model, and a good number of them are still behind cabinet doors in older Houston kitchens.

A built-in microwave is wired into its cabinet, so the first visit often starts with how it is mounted. We check the power supply, the door switches and the latch, then the high-voltage parts if the cooking has gone cold. The cooling fan on a built-in matters because the unit has less open air around it than a countertop model, so we confirm it runs and that the cabinet vents are clear.

Because the model is no longer made, we check part availability before quoting. We read the full number and serial from the label, you see a written price first, and we give a 30-day workmanship warranty. If a replacement makes more sense, we will say so.

FGMO205KFFGMO205KF questions
Does the trim kit have to be removed to repair a built-in microwave?

Often the unit must slide out of the opening, and any trim around it comes off first. We handle that carefully so the cabinet and the finish are not marked, and we put everything back as we found it.

Why is the fan on my built-in microwave running after I finish cooking?

That is usually the cooling fan clearing heat. If it runs for a very long time or is loud, we check for a blocked vent in the cabinet and then test the fan motor and the temperature sensing.

Is a 2.0 cu. ft. built-in microwave from this line still worth repairing?

In many cases, yes, if parts are available and the problem is a switch, fan or control. If the repair price comes close to a new built-in plus fitting, we say so before you commit.
