FGEW3046U
Frigidaire FGEW3046U Hidden Bake Repair
Most common issues on this model
- Hidden bake element heat and the cavity floor
- Oven temperature accuracy against a thermometer
- Door lock and the cleaning cycle
- Cooling fan sound behind the control panel
The FGEW3046U is a 30-inch Gallery single electric wall oven. It has a Hidden Bake element under the oven floor, Smudge-Proof Stainless Steel, and is described as the largest-capacity oven in its line. It is also sold as FGEW3046UF, and it is now an older model.
With a hidden bake element, there is no exposed coil on the floor, so we test it differently: we check the temperature rise and read the element’s resistance after access. A floor that stays cool or an oven that takes much longer to preheat usually points to that element or the sensor. Because the element is under the floor, we are careful when we open the cavity.
A single 30-inch wall oven is often the main oven in the house, so we try to get it working quickly. We confirm the model and serial off the data label before a parts order is placed and give a written price before we start. If repair is not a good value on an older oven, we tell you honestly. All repairs come with a 30-day workmanship warranty.

Error codes this model can show
How can I tell if my hidden bake element has failed?
Food browns on top but stays pale underneath, or the oven barely warms. We confirm with a resistance reading and a temperature test before replacing anything.
Is the hidden element hard to replace?
It takes more care than an exposed coil because it sits under the floor, but it is a standard repair for us. We give the price in writing first.
My FGEW3046U door stays locked after cleaning. What do you check?
We test the lock motor and the latch switch, and we confirm the oven has cooled enough for the lock to release. A worn latch is the usual find.
