FEX831F
Frigidaire FEX831F Laundry Center Repair
Most common issues on this model
- Whether the washer fills, washes and drains
- Dryer heat and drum turning
- Dryer vent and lint path
- Door or lid latch and switch action
The FEX831F is an electric laundry center from Frigidaire, a washer and a dryer built into one tall white cabinet. It has been discontinued, and a version numbered FEX831FS also exists. Few details about it are listed, so we confirm the layout and controls when we see the unit.
Laundry centers like this are usually found in hall closets, apartments and condos, where one cabinet saves floor space. That also means the vent run, the water hoses and the power outlet all sit within arm’s reach of each other. When a customer says the washer will not drain or the dryer will not get hot, we separate the two halves and test each. We look at hoses, drain, latch and switch on the washer side, and heat, belt and vent on the dryer side.
This is an older model still in many homes, and we repair it. If the cost would be close to a replacement, we tell you so before you decide. The label gives us the model and serial, the price is in writing first, and the work has a 30-day warranty.

Error codes this model can show
Half of my FEX831F stopped but the other half works. What does that mean?
The washer and dryer are separate systems sharing a cabinet. A failure on one side rarely affects the other, so we test the stopped side by itself, starting with power, door switch and the main control.
Why does the dryer in my laundry center take so long to dry?
A clogged vent or lint trap is the usual reason, and a weak heating element is next. We clear the vent path, test the heater and look at the drum belt.
Are repair parts still around for an older laundry center?
Common parts such as belts, hoses, switches and heating elements are often available. We check with your full model and serial before giving you a price.
