A range hood does one job: carry steam, smoke and grease away from the cooking area. Frigidaire hoods use a blower motor, a speed control, a light and a metal filter, and ducted models rely on a duct that carries air outdoors.

My range hood fan is weak. Is the motor failing?
Not always. A grease-clogged filter, a blocked duct, a damper stuck closed or a loose fan blade all cut airflow. We start with the filter and the duct, since those cost less to fix than a motor.
The hood light will not turn on even with a new bulb.
The bulb socket, the switch or the control may have failed. Check the bulb type listed on the hood label, since some units need a specific base. If a correct bulb still fails, we test the socket and switch.
Do you repair the duct system?
We check airflow at the hood, but ductwork running through walls or roofs is outside what we handle. If the problem is in the duct, we tell you what we see so you can have a contractor fix it.
